FAQ's

What are your hours?

We are open 9 am to 5 pm M-F or by appointment. Interested users contact us at 480-409-SOAR (7627) or by emailing info@aerialengagement.com. We will register you with Flight Circle, our booking software, so you will be able to see the master schedule and make your reservation. Reservations outside of normal operating times must be approved in advance. All reservations are subject to availability.

Where are you located?

We have two locations. The first is in the Scottsdale Airpark, across from the east side of the airport (KSDL) runway, 15170 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ  85260. Our newest location is in the Deer Valley Airport Terminal, 702 W. Deer Valley Road, Phoenix, AZ  85027.

How much does time on a simulator cost?

To make the cost of flight training affordable and predictable, Aerial Engagement offers several “fixed, firm” prices for simulator use. If you are a student working toward an initial pilot certificate (PPL), you receive unlimited access to our simulators for $1,299. Unlimited Access lasts until you pass your PPL check ride. If you get an “unsat” on your ride, you can come back and fly at no additional charge until you pass.

We also have an unlimited pass available to pilots seeking an instrument rating. If you are pursuing an IFR, you will pay just $999 for unlimited simulator use until you pass your check ride. Refer to our LOA to see how the time applies to FAA requirements.

For pilots who already have their IFR rating, our Constantly Current Club allows you to shoot 12 approaches per year to meet the FAA currency requirements. The fixed, firm price for a year of currency flights is $439.

How much simulator time may I put in my logbook?

Time spent on our certificated simulator may be creditable toward requirements under either Part 61 OR Part 141 of Federal Aviation Administration rules and regulations. A letter of authorization from the FAA lists those simulator activities that may be logged and applied to FAA requirements. Get our LOA here, or ask for a copy the next time you come in.

Must I have an instructor with me to fly the simulator?

No. Whether or not you have a pilot certificate, you can fly our simulator at any time without an instructor. We do not charge extra when you bring an instructor and we do not charge a flight instructor for teaching here. However, your ability to apply the time on the simulator to your minimum FAA standards may require an instructor to sign your log. Aerial Engagement staff do not sign logbooks. We maintain a list of preferred instructors who are looking for students if you need help.

Are you a flight school?

No. We do not have instructors on staff, and we do not own airplanes. We built our simulator studios for instructors, students, and pilots who otherwise would not have access to simulators.

What do you do here?

Aerial Engagement is a PUBLIC flight simulator venue. Anyone can rent our FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Certificated AATD (Advanced Aviation Training Device) Flight Simulator to improve pilot proficiency in pursuit of an initial certificate, additional rating, or for practice.
